The Standard Structure of an Essay

Generally, an essay has three parts – the introduction, the body and the conclusion. All three parts play a role in delivering the content to the reader. All the information contained within these three sections should revolve around a single thesis – your essay topic.

• The Introduction
The introduction leads readers into the topic and discusses what the aim of the essay is. Usually contained within the first few paragraphs of the essay, it contains the thesis statement -- the key sentence or phrase that specifies the general idea discussed through the entirety of the essay.

• The Body
The body of the essay contains the background of the topic and the findings. Usually taking up majority of the length of the essay, the body discusses the main points contained within the essay. This is usually done using a single paragraph to discuss a major point. The body is developed using explanations, definitions, and even examples whenever applicable, as derived through the research conducted for the purpose of writing the essay.

• The Conclusion
The conclusion brings together the other parts of the essay. This paragraph goes back to the main thesis of the essay, pulling all the major points together, before stating the final deduction. The conclusion should be supported by all the details provided within the body of the essay.

All these parts, if weaved together seamlessly using a single, cohesive thought, can make for a well-written essay. The individual sections should be able to stand by itself, however, all parts should also be able to tie-in together with the rest of the essay to confirm the thesis being discussed.

Interesting Topics for a Marketing Essay

Choosing the right topic is vital in writing an interesting essay. When writing an essay, you should be able to think up a subject that can grab and hold your readers’ attention and also something the readers can relate to.

There are a lot of subjects you can look into, especially when writing a marketing essay. The field of marketing, business, and advertising is rather broad, and a shortage of interesting essay topics is highly improbable. Here are a few areas where you can derive a topic from:

• Marketing and Business Strategies
Companies, both the lucrative businesses and those that are not doing so well, have launched business and marketing campaigns. These plans, the concepts involved in the strategies, the fiscal implications of such strategies, and the effect of the strategy on the business can be examined and discussed.

• Success Stories
Several companies started as small start-ups operating out of someone’s house. The transformation from small businesses to multinational companies is always a good topic for any written task. The struggles and the changes the company went through in transitioning from being a home-based company to one that employs hundreds always provides for fascinating fodder.

• Emerging Markets
The evolution of marketing strategies is evident, especially with the change in how people communicate and receive data. Groups of people previously thought to be too specialised or too focused on a different area of the market may now be seen as a potential market for something significantly different from their niche. The emergence of new markets can be evaluated; the implications of these markets and the impact of niche markets on the strategies employed in marketing today can also be discussed.

• Marketing Tools
As stated, the way people communicate is changing rapidly, especially with the advent of mobile and internet communication. Nowadays, companies can launch marketing campaigns through SMS or e-mail newsletters – something companies ten years ago would have never thought to use. These types of tools and their effect on the trends in the economy can be investigated.

• Marketing Techniques
The surge in internet communication has fuelled a change in how people in the advertising industry reach their markets. A lot of people live their lives online, making it easier for advertising firms to reach an unprecedented number of individuals through applications and social networking websites. A discussion on these new techniques in marketing can make for an interesting essay.

There are many other areas covered in the scope of business and marketing that you can explore. Try looking for a topic that grabs your attention, this way, you know the topic can hold your interest and you may then be able to use that to communicate your thesis to your readers.
